Daybreakers

Hi,

At last a vampire film which is a vampire film!

Directed by the Spierig brothers (Undead), this is a great film, with a different take on the vampire story which works very well. The cast is great, Hawke, Neill and Defoe all work well, all helped with a good script and a good story.

But the most important thing was the vampire lore, and it wasn't messed with, they died buffy/blade style. They set on fire when they were touched by sunlight, and what they added also worked very well. None of this diamond shimmer when they step into sunlight!!!

But the film as a whole worked well, vampires struggling to survive, blood running out, vampires mutating into bat like creatures from the lack of blood, or feeding on themselves or other vampires were all good additions to the vampire lore. Even the final twist was good!

On a whole this was a great vampire film, enjoyable lots of blood and gore with a interesting story! (8/10)

  1. Well a good modern vampire tale. Reminded me a little of Blade 2 (had some parallels). On the whole the story was pretty good and stuck to tried and trusted mythology plus there were a few nice twists that stopped the story from being a bit same old, same old. Script was good as was the acting from all the main leads. overall 8/10
