Film 7 - (Friday)

The Director explained to us that he wanted to make a homage to Assault on Precint 13, using a school and a gang of hoodies as the villians.

So it's teachers against some murderous little thugs wearing hoodies - Eden Lake anyone? Well again the Director claimed he wanted to present it so it wouldn't get tagged as an Eden Lake clone.

Cast: David Schofield - Robert Anderson, Eliza Bennett - Kate Anderson and Ruth Gemmell - Sarah Balham

Written by Johannes Roberts

Soundtrack by Neil Stemp

Directed by Johannes Roberts

What I liked? The acting, the script, the hoodies.

What I didn't like? The length - could have been a little longer.

Summary: I did like this a lot, thought David Schofield was excellent in this, along with Ruth Gemmell, Eliza Bennett and Finlay Robertson who were all very good. The script helped and you got a sense of the struggle teachers find themselves in everyday against the young thugs.

What the film did miss out on was the siege aspect of Precint 13, the hoodies got into the school quite easily and soon were killing anyone they came across.

Maybe I missed something along the way, but I didn't feel the film gave a sense of purpose to the hoodies, if the attacks were directed at Schofields character or his daugther, or just the school in general I couldn't determine which one the director was trying to go for.
However, the film had a serious of brutal attacks usually with a tyre iron! While Schofield tried to stay one step ahead of the thugs and save his daughter.

The run time was under 80 minutes but it did feel longer somehow. Maybe I was enjoying it!

Overall, it wasn't Eden Lake, the acting was spot on, with some good direction, just lacked some better story telling. (8/10)
