The Tortured

Film 11 - (Saturday)

An upper-middle-class couple's life is destroyed when their only child is kidnapped and killed. Obsessed with revenge, the couple seizes an opportunity to kidnap the killer.

Cast: Jesse Metcalfe - Craig, Erika Christensen - Elise, Bill Moseley - Kozlowski

Written by Marek Posival

Soundtrack by Jeff Rona

Directed by Robert Leiberman

What I liked? The initial concept.

What I didn't like? The execution of the concept, the torture-porn which was never really torture-porn.

Summary: The idea was sound, and I could easily identify with the couples revenge. But when it comes down to actually doing the torture, the whole thing felt like it didn't really want to go too dark. I understand they tried to show the dilemma's facing the couple, how much could they do to calm their blood lust, how much would vindicate the death of their son.

In the end not much, and the twist was just a little half hearted really. The script was quite weak, the acting was ok, but after that it had nothing else really.

The fact it's on DVD soon says it all.

Overall - below average (4/10)
