The Pack

Film - 16 (Sunday)

A little French film, about a lone girl travelling through no man's land who picks up a hitchhiker, stopping at a truck-stop restaurant, the hitchhiker disappears. The girl tries to find out what happened to him and things go from bad to worse for her.

Cast: Emilie Dequenne - Charlotte, Benjamin Biolay - Max and Yolande Moreau - La Spack.

What I liked? Emilie Dequeene, the humor, the ending!

What I didn't like? Not that much actually.

Summary: A funny little film, not big on production, it looked dirty and cheap. However it was acted well, the script was pretty good. But it didn’t seem to know where it was heading, as though it was been made up on the spot.

The setup is typical and everything points to a typical horror film about people going missing and a dark secret. I was thinking along the lines of werewolf’s. But if anything this film doesn’t follow a-typical thought patterns! A to B is arced, but what happens through that arc borders on WTF!

We have a bunch of bikers, who definitely are not your typical bikers, even if they think they are. In fact they become the comic relief later in the film.

The pack turns out not to be a pack of what you think they should be. For me they worked a lot better than what I was anticipating the pack to be.

One thing which I did really like, were the characters, a strange ensemble really, but in this film they seemed to fit perfectly.

The script was good and the gore enough but never over the top.

Overall a strange horror film, but one I enjoyed watching (7/10)
